Textile Artist Beverley Hicklin BA has opened her stunning new studio Atelier Quinze in La Trimouille, 86290. Fr., in the midst of and despite, the pandemic. The three storey building has been beautifully restored and offers space for artists and visitors to come to see the traditional process of making woven textiles, enroll on a course or class, or book space to work alongside Hicklin.
There is a boutique attached to the atelier where it is possible to buy fine craft works, clothes, scarves, jewellry and various, gorgeous bags, wallets, cushions and more exquisite bijouterie.

Hicklin has two looms with which she creates her glorious textiles, but she is also a seamstress and designer so can be commissioned to develop fabrics, soft furnishings, clothes, bags and additionally uses marbling and glass making techiques and creates delicate, colourful jewellry and accessories.

It is wonderful that more artisanal and creative life has been breathed back into the small town of La Trimouille, once the key staging post on the River Benaize; the only major crossing point between Le Blanc (Indre) and Le Dorat (Haute Vienne/Limousin). It now boasts three fine contemporary arts and craft venues, which offer courses in painting, textiles, printmaking, jewellry and paper making.
Our next Balades des Artistes will take place in November 2020, watch this space…

The Scarlet Women Trail traverses the Vienne and Gartempe regions, travelling through all 55 communes, creating a growing digital and real world pathway for the public to follow. All QR codes are placed in exterior locations which link back to the main project site here, allowing individuals to travel the routes and explore the communes as they wish. Each site relates to a particular history or action related to the women of the commune which reaches across time and history, many sites are wells and water sites, where women traditionally have gathered to wash and exchange information.

Head quarters are located in the ATELIER MELUSINE, La Trimouille, within the Scarlet Women project exhibition (closing 08/03/2022). The trail once complete will stay in place indefinitely.
