7. Notre-Dame – La Statue de la Vierge
Cette fois, lorsque les enfants pénètrent sur la place du vieux château, ils ne ressentent presque pas le froid. Ils sont si heureux. Ils s'avancent vers la maison et, tandis qu'ils piétinent la neige poudreuse, ils commencent à entendre un chant. Une voix de femme, chantant doucement à travers les flocons, les enchante. Le chant semble provenir de la statue de Marie qui domine la ville, et ils sont irrésistiblement attirés par elle. Apparemment insensibles à la neige, ils grimpent jusqu'au pied de la Magdeleine, et le chant s'éteint tandis qu'ils contemplent son visage, qui semble imperméable aux intempéries.
« Peut-être devrions-nous dire une prière ? » dit Célestin. « Oui, une prière de gratitude », répond Mélusine. Ils s'agenouillent dans la neige et murmurent des paroles qu'ils croient avoir entendues du prêtre.
Puis ils se relèvent en hâte et rentrent chez eux.

7. Our Lady – The Statue of the Madonna
This time when the children step into the old castle square, they hardly feel the cold.
They are so happy. They step forward towards home, as they stamp through the white powder, they start to hear a song. A woman’s voice, singing sweetly through the flurries, and they are enchanted. The song seems to be coming from the statue of Mary which sits high above the town, and they are drawn towards it. Seemingly unfazed by the snow, they climb up to the foot of the Magdalene, and the song fades away as they stare up at her face, seemingly impervious to all weather.
‘Perhaps we should say a prayer?” says Celestin, “Yes, a prayer of gratitude’ Says Melusine and they flump to their knees in the snow and mutter words which they think they have heard from the priest.
They then scramble to their feet and turn for home.
